Today, North Hollywood and Loyola branches of Project Magnify gathered for a joint development meeting with Mr. Ankur Patel, an school and community board official of Local District 3 – Northwest.
Magnify board member Hansub Kim ran in to Mr. Ankur Patel, a fellow North Hollywood alumnus (Class of 2003), by chance during a school visit when he made a class presentation in the AP Economics class. After learning of Magnify through a comprehensive presentation from the joint team on 3D printing and various school-exclusive endeavors, Mr. Patel was eager to help the students involved from both schools.
Main topics discussed at today’s development meeting were obtaining information about STEM-affiliated events at different elementary and middle schools, brainstorming different ways to bring Project Magnify to light within the local community (talking to elected officials, Chamber of Commerce, etc.), and conceiving a foundational blueprint for the implementation of a Beyond the Bell, or afterschool enrichment branch of Project Magnify. Potential funding, sponsorship, and fundraisers in conjunction with the school District was also a topic of discussion. We are very grateful for his support of our project, and are very excited for the experience and expertise Mr. Patel brings to the table,
This meeting is the first of many with Mr. Patel – Project Magnify will meet with him on a monthly basis to touch base, talk logistics, and plan out future directions. We hope this burgeoning partnership will benefit Magnify with speedier outreach, a viable budget, and future successes at schools across the city.
